This story was beautiful. It really showed how the writer can put a twist on a story while still keeping it realistic. My favorite character (while I loved all the characters) was Rolf Carle's wife, who was the narrator. I liked how Allende wrote the story from her perspective because it's told from someone who's watching the scene indirectly, and even though she wasn't physically there, she still felt for Azucena, the girl who was stuck in the clay. These were some of my favorite parts of the story. At the ending, I learned that news reporters don't always just want the most newsworthy stories- they have feelings, just like everyone else.
Hmm... in terms of a news story that would also make a good short story... I've noticed lots of articles about the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings because 1) it's the two-year anniversary of the event and 2) they're finally having a trial with the people who are responsible for setting the bombs. There were a lot of people who were affected by the bombs, and it would be interesting to see how people feel two years later.
Hi Maya,
ReplyDeleteI really liked your post. You're opinion on the story was shown nicely and obvious. You had enough information on the story to support you ideas. If had not read the story I would definitely use your blog. I liked how you said that you had your favorite parts, but overall liked it. Great post!
